Updated August 14, 2026
Single Rider is still one of the best free ways to shorten a Disney wait. There is no paid upgrade, no Lightning Lane reservation and no return window. You agree to ride separately from your group, and Disney uses you to fill otherwise empty seats.
The problem is figuring out which rides actually offer it.
Disney has added Single Rider to several attractions in recent years, while the experience at some longtime favorites has changed. Expedition Everest is the most confusing example in 2026: Disney still officially lists it as a Single Rider attraction, but changes to the way the ride loads guests have made its Single Rider line much less useful than it once was.
Here is the current list for Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.
Quick Answer: Which Disney Rides Have Single Rider Lines?
As of August 2026, Disney officially lists six Single Rider attractions at Walt Disney World:
- Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
- Test Track
Disneyland Resort currently lists eleven Single Rider attractions across Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure:
- Matterhorn Bobsleds
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
- Space Mountain
- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
- Indiana Jones Adventure
- Radiator Springs Racers
- Incredicoaster
- Goofy’s Sky School
- Grizzly River Run
- WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure
- Soarin’ Over California
Disney says Single Rider is subject to availability. A ride appearing on this list does not guarantee that its Single Rider queue will be operating when you arrive.

Disney World Single Rider Lines in 2026
| Park | Ride | Worth Trying? |
|---|---|---|
| Animal Kingdom | Expedition Everest | Check the wait first; much less reliable in 2026 |
| Hollywood Studios | Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run | Often useful if you don’t care about your cockpit role |
| Hollywood Studios | Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance | Potentially very useful when offered |
| Hollywood Studios | Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets | Usually worth checking |
| EPCOT | Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure | Worth checking when standby is long |
| EPCOT | Test Track | Historically an excellent Single Rider use case |
| Magic Kingdom | None | No official Single Rider attractions |
What Happened to Expedition Everest Single Rider?
Expedition Everest used to be one of my favorite examples of why Single Rider works so well.
Then Disney changed the loading procedure.
In 2026, Cast Members began sorting guests in the regular queue into odd- and even-sized groups before they reach the loading platform. That allows Disney to fill more of the two-person rows using people already waiting in standby.
Operationally, that makes sense. For Single Riders, it removes much of the reason the separate queue existed.
There simply aren’t as many empty seats left to fill.
The result has been substantially longer waits in the Expedition Everest Single Rider line. A queue that could once produce wonderfully quick rides can now move slowly enough that standby may be the better choice.
The situation became even more confusing in July 2026 when the Single Rider entrance sign disappeared. That prompted speculation that Disney was eliminating the line entirely. The sign subsequently returned.
As of this update, Disney’s own Walt Disney World Single Rider page still lists Expedition Everest as an official Single Rider attraction.
So don’t assume that Everest Single Rider is gone. But don’t assume it will save you time, either.
My advice in 2026: look at the standby wait, look at the Single Rider queue if it is operating, and ask a Cast Member how it has been moving. The old advice to automatically choose Single Rider at Everest is no longer good advice.
EPCOT Single Rider Lines
Test Track
Test Track has long been a natural fit for Single Rider because its ride vehicles seat guests in rows that can otherwise wind up with an empty seat.
Disney currently lists Test Track as an official Single Rider attraction.
If the standby line is long and you don’t need to ride next to the rest of your party, this is one of the first Single Rider options I would check.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is also now on Disney’s official Single Rider list.
That is useful because Remy’s can develop substantial waits. As with every Single Rider queue, availability and actual time savings can vary.
Hollywood Studios Single Rider Lines
Hollywood Studios currently has more official Single Rider attractions than any other Walt Disney World park.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
Smugglers Run is an obvious Single Rider candidate because each cockpit needs six people.
The downside is the role.
If part of the reason you are riding is that you desperately want to pilot the Millennium Falcon, I would use the regular queue. A Single Rider is being used to fill an available spot, so you should not expect to choose your position.
If you mainly want to ride and don’t care whether you are Pilot, Gunner or Engineer, Single Rider can be a good trade.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
This one is particularly interesting because older Disney planning advice may still tell you that Rise of the Resistance does not have Single Rider.
At Walt Disney World, it does now.
Disney currently includes Rise of the Resistance on its official Single Rider page for Hollywood Studios.
Given the waits Rise can attract, that makes it one of the most interesting Single Rider options in Disney World when the service is operating.
At Disneyland, however, Disney’s current Single Rider list does not include Rise of the Resistance.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets
The newly reworked Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster remains on Disney’s official Single Rider list.
Roller coaster seating makes this exactly the type of attraction where filling an empty seat can keep a Single Rider queue moving reasonably well.
Does Magic Kingdom Have Any Single Rider Lines?
No current Magic Kingdom attraction is listed by Disney as offering official Single Rider service.
This surprises people because Magic Kingdom has plenty of rides where a Single Rider queue might seem useful.
Space Mountain at Disneyland, for example, offers Single Rider. Space Mountain at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom does not.
If you are searching for a Magic Kingdom Single Rider line, there currently isn’t one to plan around.
Your free wait-reduction options are the familiar ones: arrive early, stay late, watch wait times and take advantage of attractions when crowds temporarily shift elsewhere. Lightning Lane is the paid alternative.
Disneyland Single Rider Lines in 2026
Disneyland Resort has a much broader Single Rider program than Walt Disney World.
Disneyland Park
| Ride | Single Rider Notes |
|---|---|
| Matterhorn Bobsleds | A natural Single Rider attraction because odd-sized groups can leave open seats |
| Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run | Useful if you are willing to give up control over your cockpit role |
| Space Mountain | Worth checking when standby waits climb |
| Tiana’s Bayou Adventure | Officially listed by Disneyland for Single Rider |
| Indiana Jones Adventure | Officially listed by Disneyland for Single Rider |
Disney California Adventure
| Ride | Single Rider Notes |
|---|---|
| Radiator Springs Racers | One of the most compelling Single Rider choices at Disneyland Resort |
| Incredicoaster | Good candidate when Single Rider is operating |
| Goofy’s Sky School | Can be useful when standby is long |
| Grizzly River Run | Value varies considerably with crowds and weather |
| WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure | Useful if your group is willing to split up |
| Soarin’ Over California | Currently on Disney’s official Single Rider list |
How Disney Single Rider Works
Single Rider is designed to fill otherwise empty seats.
Suppose a ride vehicle has a row for four people and the next group in the regular queue has three. Instead of sending the vehicle with an empty seat, a Cast Member can pull one person from the Single Rider queue.
That increased efficiency is why Disney can sometimes move Single Riders through much faster without charging them for priority access.
But it comes with conditions.
- Your group will be split up. You should expect to ride separately.
- You cannot count on a particular seat. You are there to fill whatever seat is available.
- Special seating requests may not be accommodated.
- The line may not always be open. Disney says Single Rider is subject to availability.
- It isn’t guaranteed to be faster. Expedition Everest in 2026 is an excellent example.
When Is Single Rider Actually Worth Using?
I like Single Rider most in three situations.
You Are Actually Traveling Alone
This is the easiest case. There is no group to split up, so you are giving up very little for the possibility of a shorter wait.
You Want to Ride Something Again
If you already experienced the full standby queue with your family and want another ride, Single Rider can be perfect.
You have already seen the queue together. Now you just want another trip around the track.
Your Group Doesn’t Care About Riding Together
A group can use Single Rider. The name does not mean you have to arrive at the attraction alone.
It means Disney is going to treat each of you as an individual rider.
You may wind up several ride vehicles apart.
When Should You Avoid Single Rider?
Skip it when riding together is an important part of the experience.
I would be especially reluctant to use it for a child’s first ride, a first-time family experience, or an attraction where your position matters to you.
Smugglers Run is the obvious example. If somebody has been dreaming about sitting in the pilot’s seat, saving some queue time and ending up in another role may be a lousy bargain.
Single Rider also isn’t a substitute for Rider Switch when an adult needs to remain with a child who cannot ride.
Single Rider vs. Lightning Lane
Single Rider is free.
Lightning Lane costs money but is available on far more attractions and allows a group to stay together.
If you are a solo traveler or don’t care about splitting up, Single Rider can be one of Disney’s best remaining free time-saving tools.
If you are managing a family day across many attractions, Lightning Lane may solve a much broader problem.
They can also complement each other. There is no reason every ride in your day has to use the same strategy.
Check Before You Get in Line
Single Rider is unusually dependent on how an attraction is operating that day.
Disney itself says participating attractions and wait times can vary and that Single Rider service is subject to availability.
Before committing:
- Check the Disney app.
- Look for Single Rider signage at the attraction.
- Compare the visible Single Rider queue with standby.
- Ask a Cast Member whether Single Rider is currently operating.
- Don’t assume an old Disney planning article still has the correct ride list.
That last point has become especially important in 2026. Disney has been changing both the list of attractions and the way individual Single Rider queues operate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Disney World rides have Single Rider in 2026?
Disney currently lists Expedition Everest, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Test Track.
Does Magic Kingdom have Single Rider?
No. Disney currently lists no official Single Rider attractions at Magic Kingdom.
Does Expedition Everest still have Single Rider?
Yes, according to Disney’s current official Single Rider list. However, changes to the loading procedure in 2026 have made the line much slower and less predictable than it historically was. Check its status and compare waits before using it.
Did Disney get rid of the Expedition Everest Single Rider line?
No official elimination has occurred as of August 14, 2026. The entrance sign was briefly removed in July and then returned, and Disney currently continues to list Expedition Everest as a Single Rider attraction.
Does Rise of the Resistance have Single Rider?
At Walt Disney World, yes. Disney currently lists Rise of the Resistance as a Single Rider attraction at Hollywood Studios. Disneyland Resort does not currently include Rise on its official Single Rider list.
Does Test Track have Single Rider?
Yes. Disney currently includes Test Track on its official Walt Disney World Single Rider list.
Does Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure have Single Rider?
Yes. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is currently listed as a Single Rider attraction at EPCOT.
Can a family use the Single Rider line?
Yes, but everyone should expect to be separated. Single Rider is not a shortcut that lets a family board together through a shorter queue.
Is Single Rider always faster than standby?
No. Its speed depends on how many empty seats the ride needs to fill. Sometimes it saves substantial time; sometimes it barely moves. Expedition Everest’s 2026 changes are a particularly good example of why you should compare the lines before committing.
Is Disney Single Rider free?
Yes. There is no separate charge to use an available Single Rider queue.
One of Disney’s Best Free Time-Savers—When It Works
Single Rider remains one of the simplest tools for getting more out of a Disney park day.
For a solo traveler, it is an obvious option. For groups willing to split up, it can turn a painful standby wait into something much more manageable. At Disneyland Resort, the number of participating rides makes it especially useful.
Just don’t treat the words “Single Rider” as a guarantee of a short wait.
Expedition Everest demonstrates that perfectly. The line still exists, Disney still officially lists it, and yet operational changes have altered the value of using it.
Check the current queue, ask a Cast Member, and use Single Rider when the numbers actually work in your favor.
